Truro’s Father Christmas Parade is set to bring festive cheer to the city centre on Wednesday 26th November, with a colourful procession inspired by Aladdin, this year’s Christmas show at Hall for Cornwall.

Father Christmas Parade Details

Organised by Truro BID and sponsored by Coodes Solicitors, the parade will feature Father Christmas in his sleigh, elves, local dance groups, musicians and circus performers.

The evening begins at 6pm with Rock Choir Cornwall performing in Boscawen Street, before the parade sets off at 6.30pm. The route will start on Boscawen Street, continue along St Nicholas Street and Kenwyn Street, turn right at Little Castle Street and head onto River Street, before looping back via St Nicholas Street, Boscawen Street, Princes Street, Green Street and finishing at Back Quay.

Security staff and local police will be on hand throughout the event.

Lantern Workshops

Ahead of the parade, Truro City of Lights artists will host lantern-making workshops at Hall for Cornwall on Sunday 16th November. Participants will create small lanterns inspired by Aladdin and will be invited to carry them in the Father Christmas Parade.

Workshops are suitable for ages 8 and over, and all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Two sessions are available, one at 10am and another at 1.30pm. To book, visit this link.

Late-Night Shopping and Christmas Markets

The parade marks the start of Truro’s late-night shopping evenings, which will take place on the following four Wednesdays, plus an extra date on Monday 22nd December.

Shops across the city will stay open until 9pm, alongside the Truro Christmas Market and Boscawen Street Christmas Market, both running until 9pm.

The main shopping streets will be traffic-free all day, and markets will be hosted by Truro Farmers Market, Cornwall Shop Small and Truro BID.

For convenience, the Truro Park and Ride will operate later than usual, with the last service leaving at 9.30pm. Services towards Tregurra Park will use the River Street stop, and those heading to Langarth Park will depart from Victoria Square.
