Two Newquay Restaurants Reveal Lavish Plans for Christmas Feasts

This Christmas, award-winning chef Adam Handling MBE is bringing festive flair to Cornwall with indulgent seasonal experiences at Ugly Butterfly 2.0 and The Tartan Fox, part of the Adam Handling Collection.

Festive Feasts with a Cornish View

The newly opened Ugly Butterfly 2.0 sits on the cliffs of Fistral Beach in Newquay, offering guests panoramic views of the Atlantic while celebrating the best of the South West larder.

From 2nd December to 1st January, diners can enjoy an elegant four-course festive afternoon tea (£50 per person, or £60 with bubbles), featuring dishes such as ‘Roast turkey & cranberry’ sandwiches, a ‘Hog’s pudding sausage roll’, ‘Roast apple & blackberry crumble’ and Cornish scones with Rodda’s clotted cream and Kea Plum jam from Tregothnan.

For Christmas Day itself, the £175 per person menu includes a choice of dishes such as ‘Crab, red pepper, lemongrass’, ‘Chicken liver parfait, black truffle, gingerbread’ and ‘Roast duck, blackberries, liver, pine’. Guests can finish with an ‘Ice cold’ chocolate Christmas pudding, paired with Chef Adam’s Champagne of choice, Krug, offered at a special reduced price.

Ugly Butterfly can accommodate up to 60 guests for a sit-down meal or 150 standing, and will close from 2nd January until early February 2026.

Cosy Christmas at The Tartan Fox

For those after a more rustic festive escape, The Tartan Fox near Newquay is offering a cosy countryside retreat complete with roaring fires, mulled wine and marshmallow toasting in its winter garden.

The menu includes comforting dishes such as ‘Beef and Ale suet pudding, pickled red cabbage, champ’, ‘Roast cod, wild mushrooms, tarragon’, and ‘Game pigeon, celeriac, pickled blackberries’, followed by ‘Warm mince pie tart, Brandy ice cream’ or ‘Torched Keltic Gold, ginger cake, honey’.

A wreathmaking workshop with local florist Hayley Scott Blooms takes place on 5th December (£65 per person), including sparkling wine and cheese doughnuts. Later in the month, a Christmas Market will be held on 14th December, featuring artisan stalls and festive treats.

On 18th December, guests can enjoy a festive feasting banquet in the romantic barn filled with fairy lights and candles (£60 per person, tickets via TicketTailor).

For Christmas Day, diners can expect a choice of traditional mains with all the trimmings, followed by a free-flowing cheese and Port station.

Gifts and Good Cheer

The Adam Handling Collection is also offering a range of festive foodie gifts, including gift vouchers, limited edition cookbooks and Adam Handling Own Label English sparkling wines. Orders for pre-Christmas delivery should be placed before midday on 18th December 2025.

Guests can also look forward to the Christmas Chocolate Shop and new ready-to-drink cocktails from Eve Bar, developed in collaboration with sustainable spirit brands.
