What’s Waiting for You at Newquay’s Three Day Christmas Celebration

Newquay is gearing up for a packed festive weekend as Newquay Town Council, Newquay BID and Cornwall Shop Small join forces for a three day celebration on the Killacourt from 28th to 30th November 2025. The free event brings the town’s Christmas Lights Switch On, live music and a festive market to one of Newquay’s most iconic spots.

Friday 28th November: Lights Switch On and Fireworks

The weekend begins on Friday 28th November with Newquay’s traditional Christmas Lights Switch On ceremony. Festivities start at 3.00pm when the Christmas Market and Bar open, followed by carol singing from Oll an Gwella and performances from Wicked Tribute and Bubbles the Pixie. The evening rounds off with Forever Swift, a Taylor Swift tribute act.

The lights will be switched on at 6.45pm, followed by a fireworks display over the bay. This year’s Christmas tree has been sponsored by Boardmasters.

Councillor Drew Creek, Mayor of Newquay, said:
“I am thrilled with the lineup for this Christmas light switch on spectacular, with some amazing entertainment from 15:30, brought to you by Newquay Town Council. I can’t wait to see the Christmas Tree in its prominent new spot on the Killacourt, which makes so much sense. Huge thanks go to our new events manager, Amy and partnership working with Mark from Newquay Bid. I will be there with Radio Newquay and special guest switching on the lights from 18:30 it’s going to be a blast!”

Visitors are advised to arrive early as Friday evening is expected to be busy.

Saturday 29th November: Full Day of Live Music

Saturday brings a full programme of live performances on the Christmas Market’s entertainment stage. Acts include Lowrie & Mark, Joe Hurworth, The Newqs, Bow River and Josh Curnow.

There will also be a Wreath Making Workshop, which requires booking, alongside stalls selling gifts from local makers.

Sunday 30th November: Family Festive Fun Day

The celebrations finish on Sunday with a Family Festive Fun Day. Highlights include a Giant Snow Globe photo spot, a drop in Children’s Art Workshop, theatrical storytelling by Café Petite, festive visitors and a Children’s Christmas Disco.

Market at the Killacourt

Across all three days, the Killacourt Christmas Market will feature local traders offering handcrafted gifts, decorations, festive food, seasonal treats, hot drinks including mulled wine and Cornwall made products.
