Who Are Penhaligon’s Friends?
Penhaligon’s Friends is a Cornwall-based charity that supports bereaved children, young people, parents, and carers throughout the county. Their mission is to provide a safe space for children and young people to share their experiences, access practical resources, and cope with their grief.
The charity offers a wide range of services, including:
- Advice and resources
- Telephone support
- Family visits and one-to-one sessions
- Group activities and social events
- School visits
Penhaligon’s Friends also runs an extensive training programme for childcare professionals and volunteers, helping the wider community respond to bereaved children’s needs.
With a small team of nine staff members and over 50 dedicated volunteers, Penhaligon’s Friends continues to grow, making a huge difference in the lives of bereaved families across Cornwall.

Supporting a Worthy Cause
Julie from Penhaligon’s Friends highlighted the importance of this annual auction, saying:
“Our Christmas Auction features a fantastic selection of gifts and festive treats to suit all ages and interests. Everyone is welcome to get involved, browse the lots and place bids.
“We are immensely grateful to the businesses that have provided items and continue to support our work. All proceeds raised by our annual Christmas Auction will directly benefit bereaved children and young people in Cornwall in 2025, which will also mark our 30th anniversary.”
The charity has been a lifeline for over 1,000 bereaved children and their families in Cornwall this past year. Additionally, they offer specialist training in child bereavement for professionals, students, schools, and organisations across the county.

Bidding is already underway and will close at 10 pm on Tuesday, 10th December.
