Falmouth has chosen its guest of honour for this year’s Christmas Lights Switch-on and the community has made its feelings clear. Mr Danny Trick will take centre stage on Thursday 27th November 2025, following an outpouring of nominations celebrating his commitment to the town.

A Community Favourite

Falmouth Town Council and the Falmouth Business Improvement District selected Danny after receiving an exceptional number of heartfelt nominations. Each one highlighted his dedication, positivity and the energy he brings to local groups and events.

This year Danny has helped boost the profile of Falmouth Rugby Club, supporting its heritage and work both on and off the pitch. He has also volunteered extensively with the Falmouth Marine Band and played a key part in bringing back carnival floats for the 2025 Falmouth Carnival after a 20 year gap. The return of floats helped breathe new life into an event that means a lot to people in the town.

Nominations also spoke about Danny’s generosity, kindness and willingness to help others. While he is known for his big personality, he often avoids the spotlight and prefers to help others shine. His design work, organisation and enthusiasm have shaped many of Falmouth’s well loved groups and annual celebrations.

Despite many of the organisations he volunteers with receiving the ‘Spirit of Falmouth’ award in the past, Danny’s personal contribution has gone largely unrecognised until now.

Danny’s Response

Commenting on the recognition, Mr Danny Trick said:

“I am deeply humbled and extremely honoured to accept the nomination to switch on this year’s Falmouth Christmas lights. Having been part of The Falmouth Marine Band for the last decade, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the ongoing efforts to keep the Falmouth Carnival alive. The donations we collect are vital, providing essential support to various Cornish groups and charities that benefit from our annual ballot. This year, the Carnival Committee, formed within the Falmouth Marine Band, set a goal to deliver an even better Carnival than in 2024. The reintroduction of floats created an incredible buzz and energy for our town and local businesses. I am immensely proud of everyone who worked alongside me, as well as the public who rallied behind our town Carnival this year.”

Councillor Alan Jewell, Mayor of Falmouth, added: “We would like to thank all those who took the time to send in nominations this year and are so pleased that such a worthy individual has been nominated to switch-on Falmouth’s Christmas lights. Congratulations Danny.”
