Easter Vintage Rally Raises £775 for Falmouth RNLI
£775 handed to RNLI after vintage rally fun at Stithians Showground
A charity vintage rally held at Stithians Showground over the Easter weekend has raised £775 for Falmouth RNLI.
The event was the first organised by Emma Goss and Jason Goss under their not-for-profit organisation, JEMS Vintage Rallies Cornwall. The pair visited Falmouth Lifeboat Station recently with long-time RNLI supporter Mick French to hand over the funds to Senior Station Technician and Deputy Coxswain Jon Blakeston.
Family fun with fundraising at heart
The Easter rally brought together vintage vehicles, food and trade stalls, a craft barn, a children's fun zone and an Easter egg hunt. Speaking about the event, Emma said:
'The rallies we organise are not for profit events and are a good family fun day out. We donate the proceeds from the rally fees to a number of local charities and encourage stall holders to raise money as well.'
JEMS Vintage Rallies contributed £500 to the final total, while Mick raised £168 through a display of models from his lifeboat collection. A further £107 was raised by Les Coddington, who showcased handmade replicas of old fairground games.
Behind the scenes at Falmouth RNLI
During their visit to the station, Emma, Jason and Mick were given a tour by Jon, which included going aboard Falmouth RNLI's new Shannon class all-weather lifeboat, Decibel Too.
The funds raised will support the vital work of Falmouth RNLI's volunteer crew, who are on call 24 hours a day to help those in trouble at sea.
