Falmouth Art Gallery to Host Fun Palace on 18th October

Published On: 9 October 2025Last Updated: 9 October 2025By

Falmouth Art Gallery is inviting everyone to get creative as it throws open its doors for this year’s Fun Palace on Saturday 18th October, from 10am to 4pm.

The event, taking place in the Municipal Buildings on The Moor, promises a full day of hands-on fun, self-expression and community connection. Following a successful edition in 2024, the Gallery’s 2025 celebration will once again focus on creative wellbeing, showcasing the talent and opportunities thriving across Falmouth.

A Celebration of Creativity and Community

The free event will feature a wide range of creative activities, including writing, clay modelling, make do and mend/recycling projects, and even radio broadcasting. Multiple all-day craft workshops for children will also run throughout the day, making it a family-friendly event with something for everyone.

Visitors can expect to meet local groups and take part in interactive sessions designed to inspire creativity and connection, including:

  • Make it Better CIC: Improving mental health and wellbeing through creative activities, visitors can draw, paint, write and print onto copies of building plans for Falmouth Art Gallery and Library. The group invites people to reimagine the future of The Moor and surrounding sites to help shape community spaces.

  • Arts Well: Encouraging creativity for better health, Arts Well will guide participants to create their own colourful collages inspired by Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso.

  • Fairtrade Falmouth: Offering free refreshments and discussions around ethical food practices, Fairtrade Falmouth will highlight how people can support both themselves and the planet.

  • Source FM: Bringing radio to life, Source FM will invite attendees to try live broadcasting to Cornwall and learn how Cornwall Mind supports wellbeing through the airwaves.

  • Cornwall Adult Education: Tutors will be available to share details about local courses and provide hands-on creative experiences.

Community Voices

Willow Collins, Learning Assistant and Fun Palace coordinator at Falmouth Art Gallery, said:

“We’re so excited to be hosting a Fun Palace at the Gallery once again this year, it really is one of our favourite events of the year. It is great to be able to showcase the breadth of different creative outlets that are thriving right here in the Falmouth community. Everyone is welcome and we’d love to see as many people as possible who are looking to feel inspired and get their creative juices flowing!”

Spotlight on Local Opportunities

Also joining the Fun Palace this year will be the Re-Source Project, led by Nicola Burgess, Community Outreach Officer at Falmouth Town Council. Nicola will be on hand to talk about the new studios at Kimberley Park Lodge, where people can explore digital and creative media workshops designed to empower the local community.

The Fun Palace offers a chance for everyone to come together, celebrate local creativity and discover new ways to get involved in Falmouth’s artistic life.
