Falmouth BID Announces Halloween Events and Spooky Window Competition
Falmouth is set to embrace the spooky season this October with a month-long celebration of Halloween creativity, street theatre and ghostly tales in the town centre.
Spooky Windows Take Over the Town
At the heart of the celebrations is the Spooky Window Competition, where local businesses will transform their shopfronts into eerie displays. From glowing pumpkins and cobwebs to chilling surprises, visitors can expect plenty of spooky sights throughout the town.
Prizes will be awarded across three categories: Large Window, Small Window, and the Primary School Top Pick. Pupils from Falmouth’s primary schools will help judge the competition, with displays available to view from 1st–31st October.
This year, participating businesses include:
Maya’s, Grey Lurcher, Starglazers Café, Kiandles, Kitty Gubbins, Pants Cancer, Georgia’s Voice, Children’s Hospice South West, Cancer Research, British Heart Foundation, So Sweet, Flapjackery, Cornwall Jewellery Co, Southpaw Dog Store, Treaty Jewellery, The Cornish Store, Willow & Stone, Reynolds Opticians and Jezebel.
Families are encouraged to wander the town centre during half term to enjoy the showcase of creativity and Halloween fun.
The Halloween Haunting Returns
Adding a theatrical twist, Falmouth BID is supporting The Falmouth Halloween Haunting, an immersive street theatre experience by Falmouth Uncovered. Back by popular demand, audiences will follow a ghost through the streets of Falmouth, uncovering a gruesome murder mystery and chilling paranormal secrets.
Performances will take place on Thursday 30th, Friday 31st October and Saturday 1st November from 8:15pm to 9:15pm, starting at The Poly. Tickets are limited and can be booked via The Poly’s website.
Will of Falmouth Uncovered said:
“The Falmouth Halloween Haunting is a work of fiction, but it’s inspired by the rich history and atmospheric streets of Falmouth. I wanted to create something that feels rooted in the town’s character while giving audiences a spine-tingling story to lose themselves in. It’s an immersive experience where the streets themselves become part of the stage, and I can’t wait to share it this Halloween.”
Ghostly Tales Beyond Halloween
For those wanting more, The Falmouth Ghost Tour will also be running throughout half term. This spooky yet fun exploration of the town’s haunted history will take place Monday to Saturday from 6pm to 7pm, offering another chance to dive into Falmouth’s darker side.
A Community Celebration
Keren Cooksey, Falmouth BID Manager, said:
“Falmouth is such a unique town, with a wonderful mix of independent businesses alongside national names. It’s fantastic to see our town come to life with fun, creativity, and a little bit of spookiness. Halloween is the perfect way to encourage people to come into Falmouth, explore everything our town has to offer, and enjoy a safe, memorable half term experience – and hopefully keep coming back long after the pumpkins are packed away.”
