Helford Village Regatta Donates £1,500 to Falmouth RNLI
The volunteers at Falmouth RNLI have received a £1,500 boost thanks to this year’s Helford Village Regatta.
Cheque Presented at the Station
The cheque was handed over by regatta organisers Chris Newman and Jane Benney, who visited the station to make the donation in person. They presented it to Lifeboat Operations Manager Nick Lewis and All Weather Lifeboat Mechanic Andy Edwards.
Nick thanked Chris and Jane and the regatta for their support. Afterwards, Andy showed them around the station’s Shannon class all weather lifeboat Decibel Too.
Crowds Turn Out for a Packed Day
The regatta, held in Helford Village on Saturday 23rd August, drew a strong turnout. The day featured several rowing and paddling races, with plenty of people gathering along the water to watch.
Falmouth’s Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Robina Nixon Chard attended the event, giving visitors a chance to look over the lifeboat and speak to the crew. The day ended with a huge firework display.
How the Funds Were Raised
Jane Benney shared how this year’s donation was made possible, saying:
‘We raise money largely through donations from local residents and from our raffles and collections on the day but this year, we also had some corporate sponsorship which has been really helpful and has enabled us to raise more money. The total donated to charities this year is about £4,000 including the £1,500 given to Falmouth RNLI.’
The regatta’s contribution marks another year of support for local causes, with Falmouth RNLI among the beneficiaries.
