Iconic Pub Near Falmouth with Pontoon Beer Garden Looking for New Management

For the first time in 25 years, one of Cornwall’s most beloved and historic pubs, the Pandora Inn near Falmouth, is looking for a new publican. Nestled along the scenic banks of Restronguet Creek, this 13th-century inn offers a unique opportunity for those interested in managing an iconic riverside establishment complete with its own pontoon beer garden.

A Pub Steeped in History

The Pandora Inn is a quintessential piece of Cornish heritage, boasting a history that stretches back to the 13th century. Despite undergoing extensive restoration after a devastating fire in 2011, the inn has preserved its Grade II listed charm. Traditional materials and building methods were employed in the rebuild, ensuring its flagstone floors, low-beamed ceilings, and thatched roof remain as close to the original as possible. Inside, maritime memorabilia lines the walls, including a replica of HMS Pandora and a ship figurehead, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for visitors.

A Destination for Locals and Tourists Alike

The Pandora Inn has become a popular destination for both locals and visitors, especially those drawn by its prime riverside location. The pontoon beer garden offers a unique spot to enjoy a pint while taking in the views of Restronguet Creek. Boaters, kayakers, and paddle boarders often use the pontoon as a place to moor, making it a convenient and attractive stop for those exploring nearby marinas, yacht clubs, and harbours such as Loe Beach, Mylor, Falmouth, and St Mawes.

The Potential for New Ventures

Clive Greene, Head of Tenanted Estate for St Austell Brewery, expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity, saying, “Running the historic Pandora Inn offers an extraordinary opportunity to own a piece of Cornish heritage. This pub is not just a place to enjoy a pint; it’s a destination. The Pandora Inn’s prime location offers access to scenic waterways, perfect for boating enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. With a steady flow of tourists and locals year-round, the potential for vibrant business growth is immense.”

Under new tenancy, the Pandora Inn offers ample potential for creative culinary endeavours, events, and greater community involvement, allowing the next publican to further elevate its already stellar reputation. Esteemed publican John Milan, along with his business partner, Steve, will be handing over the reins after 25 years, opening a new chapter for this treasured establishment.

A Fresh Start in Early 2025

The Pandora Inn is scheduled for redecoration in January, with plans to reopen to the public in February 2025. For those interested in applying for the tenancy, St Austell Brewery has further details available here.
