Who Will Light Up Falmouth? Nominations Open for 2025 Christmas Lights Switch-On

The countdown to Christmas in Falmouth has officially begun, and the town is once again asking the community to decide who will have the honour of switching on this year’s Christmas lights.

Nominations Now Open

Organised by Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth BID, the Christmas Lights Switch-On will take place in front of hundreds of people on Thursday 27th November 2025, marking the official start of the festive season.

Nominations for a worthy person or group are open from midday on Wednesday 22nd October and will close at midday on Wednesday 19th November.

Residents can nominate an individual, community group or organisation that has made a positive impact on the town. Whether it’s a volunteer who has gone above and beyond, a young person who has inspired others, or an unsung hero, this is a chance to recognise those who make a difference in Falmouth.

Nominations can be made easily via an online form at falmouth.co.uk, with a deadline of midday on Wednesday 19th November. Details should include the nominee’s name, a short description of why they deserve to be recognised, and their contact information.

The person or group chosen will take centre stage at 7pm on Thursday 27th November for the official switch-on ceremony.

A Packed Christmas Calendar

The Christmas Lights Switch-On kicks off a full schedule of festive events throughout the town:

Falmouth Christmas Lights Switch-On, Thursday 27th November – One of the most anticipated events in the Christmas calendar and the official start to the festive season in Falmouth.
Falmouth Christmas Tree Festival, Sunday 30th November to Friday 2nd January – Christmas trees decorated by community groups will be illuminated at the Princess Pavilion.
The Poly Christmas Market, Friday 5th to Sunday 7th December – A weekend filled with crafts and festive cheer.
Festive Weekend, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December – Falmouth transforms into a magical festive wonderland.
Falmouth Fire Station’s Santa’s Grotto, Sunday 7th and Monday 8th December – A drive-through Christmas grotto hosted by the Fire Station.
Harmony Choir, Wednesday 24th December – Continuing their century-long tradition of filling Falmouth’s streets with festive song.
