Sharp’s Brewing Co Celebrates Cask Ale Week with New Vegan-Friendly Brew – Orange Haze
Rock-based Sharp’s Brewing Co, the brewery behind the UK’s best-selling amber ale Doom Bar, is marking 30 years of success with the release of a limited-edition cask ale – Orange Haze. The new brew has been developed as part of Sharp’s in-house competition for Cask Ale Week 2024, taking place from 19th to 29th September.
A Creative Win for Finance Manager Emma Bradley
Orange Haze is the brainchild of Emma Bradley, Sharp’s finance manager, who won the annual Cask Ale Week competition. This contest, which involves the entire Sharp’s team from brewers to finance, encourages creativity in beer making. Entries are judged on name, creativity, style, ingredients, and story, with the winning brew being produced in time for Cask Ale Week.
Emma, alongside Sharp’s technical brewer Jonathan Wide, spent time researching and developing the recipe to bring the unique blood orange flavour to life. The result is a 5.2% ABV brew that boasts a fresh citrus aroma, a sweet but sharp taste, and an assertive bitterness. Made with blood orange peels and juice concentrates, and complemented by new world hops, the beer is fully suitable for vegans, making it an inclusive option for beer lovers.
Where to Find Orange Haze
Beer enthusiasts can sample Orange Haze at various outlets across Cornwall, including The Mariners in Rock, The Blisland Inn in Bodmin, The Front in Falmouth, and The Brendon Arms in Bude. It is also available for purchase from the Sharp’s on-site shop and online while stocks last.
A Tradition of Innovation
Sharp’s Brewing Co has a long history of encouraging creativity within its team. The brewery’s pilot plant in Rock, North Cornwall, allows staff to experiment with new flavours and concepts. This small-scale facility, built in 2016, has produced over fifty beers, many of which have become popular limited-edition releases. The brewery’s innovative approach has been recognised with numerous awards, including the prestigious Country Winner accolade for Camel Valley Pilsner at the 2023 World Beer Awards.
More to Come from Sharp’s Brewing Co
In addition to celebrating the launch of Orange Haze, Sharp’s Brewing Co has announced plans to introduce a new loyalty club for its cask customers. Details of the ‘Cask Quality Club’ will be revealed in November.
