Cornish Brewery Takes Its IPA to Running Events Worldwide

St Austell Brewery has announced a year long partnership with endurance athlete Nick Butter that will see its low alcohol beer served at running events across the globe.

The collaboration brings together the Cornish brewer and Run Weekends, the immersive running retreat company founded by Nick, with Proper Job 0.5% set to feature at events throughout the year.

From Cornwall to the World

Nick Butter is known for becoming the first and only person to run a marathon in every country in the world. His company, Run Weekends, offers running retreats, trail running holidays and mountain adventures in destinations worldwide. Each trip is designed for groups of relaxed, like minded runners to explore new places, build friendships and connect with the outdoors.

As part of the partnership, Run Weekends participants will be able to enjoy Proper Job 0.5% at events, alongside competitions and exclusive giveaways. These include the chance to win a place on any UK or European Run Weekends trip.

An Award Winning Low Alcohol IPA

Launched in October 2024, Proper Job 0.5% is St Austell Brewery’s first low alcohol IPA. Since launch, it has picked up four major awards. Brewed in the same style as the original Proper Job, it delivers bold citrus hop flavours and a crisp finish, without the alcohol.

What They Said

Matt Heal, Senior Brand Manager at St Austell Brewery, said:
“We’re thrilled to team up with Nick and Run Weekends. Our shared values make it an incredibly organic partnership grounded in Cornish roots, all about championing connection and the joy of living adventurously – qualities that our award winning Proper Job 0.5% celebrates in every sip.”

Nick added:
“Cornwall is where my love of running began, so partnering with St Austell Brewery – a like-minded company – feels very special. Run Weekends are all about community, curiosity and pushing your limits in a healthy, sustainable way. Proper Job 0.5% is the perfect fit as a great tasting low-alcohol IPA. We cannot wait to share the work that has been happening behind the scenes.”

Global Plans Ahead

The collaboration began at the first two retreats of the year in Cornwall and will continue worldwide, including mountain adventures in the Dolomites and trail running trips in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

More information about upcoming trips can be found on the Run Weekends website.
