Fowey RNLI Launches to Report of Person in Water off Black Head
Fowey RNLI volunteers were called into action on Thursday 28th August after Falmouth coastguard received reports of a person in the water off Black Head.
Third Launch in Five Days
The volunteer crew launched their Atlantic 85 lifeboat, marking their third shout in just five days, and made best speed to the scene. On arrival, they carried out a thorough search of the surrounding cliff areas.
Person Safely Located
The search successfully located the individual, who turned out to be a spear diver and did not require any assistance.
Coastguard Call Praised
The RNLI confirmed that this was a call made with good intent. “The person who called the coastguard and reported seeing someone in the water did the right thing and reported what they thought was a potential emergency.”
Safety Reminder
If you ever see someone in trouble in the water, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
