A brand new Co-op store is set to open in Fowey this week, bringing with it fresh food, soft plastic recycling and 14 new local jobs.

Opening This Thursday

The store, located on Polvillion Road, will officially open its doors on Thursday 31st July. It will trade daily from 7am to 10pm.

The shop offers a strong focus on fresh, chilled, frozen and healthy products, alongside everyday essentials, ready meals, pizzas, flowers, Fairtrade items and a wide selection of food-to-go and meal deals. A Costa Coffee Express will also be available in store.

The opening is part of Co-op’s growing partnership with MRMU, which first launched a Co-op franchise at Cornwall Services on the A30 in 2021. Since then, MRMU has opened a number of stores across Cornwall, Devon, Cambridgeshire, Gloucestershire and East Sussex, including another location in Bugle.

Plastic Recycling and Payment Services

Fowey’s new Co-op will also provide a soft plastic recycling point, where customers can return items such as crisp packets, bread bags, pet food pouches, biscuit wrappers and plastic lids from ready meals.

Payment services will be available via PayPoint.

Benefits for Members

Co-op members will be able to take advantage of personalised offers and lower prices on everyday products. Member-owners also have access to the broader benefits of Co-op’s community-focused business model. Details of the membership scheme can be found at coop.co.uk/membership.
