The Fowey RNLI 200th anniversary event is set to be a night to remember, thanks to a generous sponsorship from Horizon Architectural Glazing.

This support will enable a dazzling firework display to close out the evening’s festivities on Friday, 2nd August.

A Night of Celebration and Entertainment

The event will take place on Fowey Town Quay from 5pm to 10pm, offering a variety of attractions for attendees. Visitors can look forward to lifeboat tours, a lifeboat dedication ceremony, and live music performances. The celebration will also feature a selection of food and refreshments, ensuring there is something for everyone.

At 7.45pm, the popular band Joey the Lips will take the stage, bringing their high-energy blend of soul, funk, blues, and Motown to the heart of Fowey. Their performance promises to be a highlight of the evening, setting the stage for the grand finale.

Firework Display to Light Up the Harbour

The evening will culminate in a spectacular firework display at 9.45pm, made possible by the sponsorship from Horizon Architectural Glazing. The fireworks will be launched from a barge in Fowey Harbour, allowing spectators on both sides of the river, in Fowey and Polruan, to enjoy the show.

Cathy Baillie, Fowey Lifeboat Press Officer, expressed her delight at the sponsorship: “We are delighted that Horizon Architectural Glazing has agreed to sponsor the fireworks and are very grateful for their involvement in our celebration of 200 years of the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea.”

Horizon Architectural Glazing’s Support

Horizon Architectural Glazing’s involvement underscores their commitment to supporting local community events. Aiden Libby, Sales Manager at Horizon, shared his enthusiasm for the celebration: “We are delighted to be able to support the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the RNLI and the 165th birthday of Fowey Lifeboats. The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea, and as an organisation relies on volunteers giving their time and energy and charitable donations to train and equip volunteer lifeboat crews. I hope everyone will come along and help mark the occasion – I will certainly be there with my family.”

The Fowey RNLI 200 event promises to be a memorable celebration of the lifeboat service’s remarkable history and dedication to saving lives at sea. Full event details can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
