Flamingo on the Loose: Frankie Takes Flight from Paradise Park
Hayle’s runaway flamingo still missing as search continues across Cornwall
Staff at Paradise Park in Hayle are continuing their search for Frankie, a young flamingo who managed to take flight from the park’s walled garden on Sunday morning, despite having clipped feathers.
Frankie’s unexpected journey
According to the park, Frankie was first seen at Paradise Park at 8am on Sunday before being spotted near Porthtowan at 10.15am. Later in the day, she was seen above Hayle River and Copperhouse Pool between 12 and 2pm.
On 2nd November, Paradise Park thanked everyone who had shared sightings and posts about Frankie. Staff said they were still worried for her and continuing the search, urging anyone who spots her to get in touch.
New sightings in West Cornwall
By 4th November, there had been reports of sightings in the Newlyn and Marazion areas. The park has asked anyone in those areas to keep a lookout and contact them immediately if they see her.
They’ve also asked people not to try to catch Frankie themselves, but if possible, to take a photo and send it in to help confirm her location.
A photo of Frankie flying high above Hayle, taken by Andy Curnow, has been shared by the park to help people identify her. In the image, her long neck and legs can be clearly seen, along with her clipped wing shape.
Appeal for sightings
Paradise Park staff continue to appeal for sightings and have expressed their gratitude to everyone who has helped so far. They wrote, “Please keep contacting us regarding any sightings, your help is invaluable in our search for Frankie, we can’t thank you enough. Weather looks better today so fingers crossed 🤞 please do not try and catch her yourself, but if possible take a photo to send to us THANK YOU xx.”
Anyone who spots Frankie is asked to contact Paradise Park by calling 01736 753365, emailing info@paradisepark.org.uk, or messaging them on Facebook.
