Sapphire Holidays Unveils £2M High-Tech Office Expansion in Hayle

Published On: 5 September 2024Last Updated: 5 September 2024By

Sapphire Holidays, a renowned Cornwall-based holiday letting agency group, has made a significant £2 million investment in new offices at Hayle Business Park. This development is set to consolidate their operations and support future growth ambitions.

Major Expansion for Leading Holiday Letting Group

Sapphire Holidays, which encompasses popular brands such as Aspects Holidays, Boutique Retreats, Classic Cottages, and Unique Hideaways, has acquired and is renovating a former industrial site. This new project will bring together the group’s 185+ employees under one roof and provide ample room for further expansion.

Currently managing around 2,650 holiday letting properties across the UK and generating sales of £60 million annually, the group is stepping up to meet increasing demand in the travel and tourism sector.

Eco-Friendly Design at the Forefront

The new office, formerly the Orion Precision Castings building, is undergoing a transformation into a low-carbon, high-tech workspace. With a focus on sustainability, the renovation includes retaining the original steelwork and concrete base of the building while incorporating advanced green technologies.

The office will feature ground source heating provided by six deep boreholes and a solar array capable of generating 54,000 kWh of electricity annually—enough to power 20 average UK households. This energy will not only serve the building but will also support electric vehicle charging bays and contribute surplus power back to the National Grid.

Enhancing Local Biodiversity

The design extends beyond the building itself, with the inclusion of a wildflower meadow to attract pollinating insects and additional green spaces to preserve and enhance local biodiversity. The careful integration of these elements underscores Sapphire Holidays’ commitment to environmental stewardship.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

Inside, the office will boast a 543 sq m ground floor and a 357 sq m mezzanine level, providing space for 64 workstations. Initially, the office will accommodate over 40 staff, with scope for increasing this number as the company grows.

Designed by Truro-based KAST Architects and managed by Ian Cavley of Newquay’s IC Building Consultancy, the same teams that developed the neighbouring Sapphire House in 2020, this office is expected to be a model of modern workplace design.

Scheduled Completion and Future Prospects

The project is slated for completion around Easter 2025, setting the stage for a new era of growth and efficiency for Sapphire Holidays. According to Simon Tregoning, owner and chairman of Sapphire Holidays, the new office will “consolidate all our teams on one site and cater for the future growth of the business.”

This expansion not only signifies a major step forward for Sapphire Holidays but also represents a boost for the local economy in Hayle, promising new jobs and increased business activity in the area.
