Flippin’ Pain to Host Free National Livestream on Understanding Persistent Pain

Published On: 9 October 2025Last Updated: 9 October 2025By

Flippin’ Pain is inviting people across Great Britain to take part in Pain Education for the Nation – a groundbreaking online event set to challenge the myths and misconceptions surrounding persistent pain.

Taking place on Wednesday 15th October 2025, the free livestream will bring together world-leading experts, healthcare professionals, and people with lived experience of pain for an interactive evening exploring the science of pain in an accessible way.

The event is supported by We Are Undefeatable, Versus Arthritis, Active Partnerships, The British Pain Society, and Cora Health, and aims to help people better understand their pain and regain control of their lives.

Exploring the Science of Pain

The keynote speaker will be Professor Cormac Ryan, Clinical Rehabilitation expert at Teesside University and Community Pain Champion for Flippin’ Pain.

Cormac said:
“Persistent pain affects up to 30-50% of us here in Great Britain, but a lot of the best research out there just hasn’t trickled down to the public, or even many professionals. We know a lot of people might be feeling lost, or unsupported with their pain: this event is about changing that.

“By bringing together a group of experts – many that live with pain themselves – we want to ‘flip’ the conversation, give people the right information about pain and share real advice on how we can improve the situation.

“Pain Education for the Nation is not just important – it’s essential. It’s about giving people the knowledge and power to take control of their lives again.”

Real Stories, Real Experiences

The event will feature exclusive interviews and a ‘lived experience’ panel, offering the chance for attendees to ask questions directly to those who have faced pain first-hand.

Among them is Kai Da’Costa, a Manchester-based psychology master’s student who lives with a lifelong disability and persistent pain following a motorcycle crash at 18.

After multiple failed surgeries and years of ineffective treatment, Kai rebuilt his life by learning how pain works. He said:
“Persistent pain has shaped my adult life – but I want to share my story and show that pain doesn’t have to define or confine you.

“Knowledge, for me, was power: and I want to help bring hope, knowledge, and new perspectives to as many people as possible.”

How to Take Part

Pain Education for the Nation will be streamed live online from 5:30pm to 7:30pm BST on Wednesday 15th October 2025 and is free to attend.
