Bloor Homes Unveils First Development in Cornwall with 1,000 New Homes In Saltash

Bloor Homes has announced its first-ever development in Cornwall, marking a significant expansion into the South West for the well-established home builder. The new ‘Treledan’ development, situated in Saltash, covers a sprawling 300-acre site and is set to bring 1,000 new homes to the area. This project is not just about housing; it’s part of a broader vision that includes infrastructure improvements and community amenities, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for local residents.

Phases 2 and 3: A Mix of New Homes and Community Spaces

Bloor Homes will be responsible for completing phases 2 and 3 of the Treledan development. The site already has outline planning consent, which includes a mix of two, three, four, and five-bedroom homes. Notably, phase two will include 90 affordable homes, addressing the pressing need for more affordable housing in Cornwall.

In addition to the housing, the development will feature extensive public open spaces. These include parkland, children’s play areas, allotments, community orchards, forest gardens, and sports pitches. These spaces are part of Bloor Homes’ Section 106 (S106) commitments, ensuring the development integrates with the local community and environment.

Infrastructure and Connectivity: New Cycleways, Footbridge, and More

To support the new community, significant infrastructure improvements are planned. A new cycleway will span the entire site, providing a sustainable transportation option for residents. Additionally, a new footbridge will be constructed over the A38, along with a new access roundabout from the A38 to facilitate smooth traffic flow.

Bloor Homes is also contributing over £2 million towards local infrastructure. This includes support for primary and secondary education, healthcare, public transport, and the creation of a new neighbourhood centre. These contributions are designed to ensure the development supports the broader needs of the Saltash community.

A Partnership with Cornwall Council

Bradley Davison, Managing Director for Bloor Homes’ Exeter region, emphasised the close collaboration with Cornwall Council and other local stakeholders. “Since Treledan is our first development in Cornwall, we have worked very closely with Cornwall Council and other key stakeholders in the local area to ensure we are providing quality new homes for Saltash which are sympathetic to the local area and meet Cornwall Council’s sustainability and affordability requirements,” Bradley said.

This development is aligned with Cornwall Council’s Local Plan, which identifies the land as a key part of the ‘gateway to Cornwall’. It also supports Saltash Town Council’s Neighbourhood Plan, which envisions a prosperous and diverse economy underpinned by the provision of new homes.

What’s Next for Treledan?

Although the development is still in its early stages, Bloor Homes is already encouraging people to find out more and register for priority information on their website. Bradley Davison also mentioned that they are looking forward to opening the showhomes to the public next year, offering a first-hand look at the high-quality and stylish homes that Bloor Homes is known for.

The sales cabin is set to welcome visitors this autumn, marking the beginning of what could be a transformative development for Saltash and the wider Cornwall area.
