A30 Scheduled Closures and Diversions – 23/02/2024 to 26/02/2024
The A30, a crucial component of the Strategic Road Network, will experience scheduled closures between Boxheater and Scorrier to facilitate the ongoing upgrades from Chiverton Cross to Carland Cross roundabouts. These enhancements are part of a significant effort to improve one of the key arteries of regional transportation, bolstered by an £8 million contribution from the European Regional Development Fund and recognition in the Government’s Roads Investment Strategy.
From Friday, 23rd February at 8 PM until Monday, 26th February at 6 AM, the A30 will be closed to through traffic, with diversion routes in place via the B3285, A3075, and B3277. Specific diversions for Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) have also been planned to ensure minimal disruption. Local access will be maintained throughout the weekend at the new Chiverton interchange and via the B3284 at Chybucca, ensuring residents can navigate the area despite the closures.
Motorists and local residents are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time for travel during these periods. The diversion routes have been carefully selected to minimise inconvenience and ensure the safety of both the travelling public and the workers on site.
Furthermore, additional closures of the A30 are scheduled throughout March 2024, including both overnight and weekend closures. These are planned for the nights of 4th to 8th March, the weekend of 8th to 11th March, again overnight from 18th to 22nd March, and the weekend of 22nd to 25th March. These closures are essential for the progression of the dual carriageway project and are subject to change. Detailed information will be provided closer to the dates to ensure motorists can prepare for any adjustments to their routes.
The upgrade of the A30 between Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross is a critical project aimed at enhancing traffic flow, reducing congestion, and improving safety on this key stretch of road. Once completed, the new dual carriageway will also integrate with the existing A30, now de-trunked, providing a seamless transition for drivers navigating the region.
For more information on the closures and to view the diversion routes, including a simple plan of the new A30 dual carriageway layout upon completion, motorists and interested parties are encouraged to visit the official project website. This significant infrastructure project underscores the commitment to improving transport links in the region, facilitating smoother journeys for all road users.
