Students at Launceston College were given a firsthand look at careers in the justice sector this term through a talk delivered as part of the school’s ‘I Love My Job’ series.

Insight into the Justice Sector

Sally Adams, who works in His Majesty’s Probation and Prison Services, spoke to Year 7 and Year 10 students about her career. She shared what a typical day looks like in her role as a civil servant and talked through the responsibilities and experiences involved in the justice sector.

Sally also highlighted the range of skills needed for the job, including communication, problem solving, resilience and teamwork. Students were able to ask questions and learn directly from someone working in the field.

Encouraging Students to Dream Big

The visit forms part of Launceston College’s wider commitment to helping students explore future career options and think confidently about what lies ahead. The ‘I Love My Job’ series regularly welcomes professionals from different sectors to give students real world insight into a wide variety of roles.

Launceston College, which is part of Athena Learning Trust, is always looking for professionals to take part in the series and inspire students. Anyone interested is invited to contact the school via dacaster@launcestoncollege.uk.

Principal’s Response

Matthew Thompson, Principal at Launceston College, said:

“I always love seeing our students energised and asking thoughtful questions. Visits like Sally’s show them the real-world skills and opportunities out there, helping them to dream big and think about their futures with confidence.”
