A Midsummer Night’s Dream Comes to Sterts for One Night Only
British Touring Shakespeare are returning to Cornwall for the first time in 18 years with a one-night-only outdoor performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre near Liskeard. The production takes place on Saturday 16th August 2025 at 7:30 PM, promising an enchanting evening of mischief, magic and romance under the stars.
The acclaimed company has been performing Shakespeare across the UK since 1999, known for combining traditional verse with imaginative staging in open-air settings.
A Magical Setting for Shakespeare
Artistic Director Andrew Hobbs, who is originally from the West Country, said:
“We’re thrilled to bring A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre. This play’s blend of magic, romance, and comedy is perfectly matched to the rural beauty and woodland ambiance of Sterts. We can’t wait for Cornwall audiences to experience the fairies and mischief in this delightful setting!”
Alice Gold, who plays Helena, added:
“Performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Sterts is a true joy. The venue’s setting among the wilderness brings Shakespeare’s enchanted forest to life. I know the audience will be swept away by the play’s humour and heart amidst beautiful Cornish nature!”

A Cast of Familiar and Fantastical Faces
The production has been adapted and directed by Andrew Hobbs, who also appears in the role of Nick Bottom. Other cast members include Paul Winterford as Theseus and Oberon, Kate Andrews as Hippolyta and Titania, and SP Howarth as Puck.
