Major Funding Boost for Liskeard’s Infrastructure Projects
In a significant development for Liskeard, £235,000 in infrastructure funding has been awarded to support key projects in the town. The funding, allocated from the Strategic Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), aims to enhance local services and facilities, addressing the growing needs of the community.
Expansion of Rosedean GP Surgery
One of the primary beneficiaries of this funding is the Rosedean GP Surgery. The council plans to use part of the £235,000 towards the expansion of this vital healthcare facility. The expansion is expected to improve healthcare services for residents, catering to the increased demand resulting from recent housebuilding in the area.
New Bus Interchange at Cattle Market
Another significant project set to benefit from this funding is the new Bus Interchange at the Cattle Market. The development of this transport hub is designed to streamline public transportation in Liskeard, making it more accessible and efficient for the community.
Efforts of Local Councillors
Nick Craker, Cornwall Councillor for Liskeard, announced the funding on social media, highlighting the concerted efforts behind the scenes. Jane Pascoe, Cornwall Councillor for Liskeard South & Dobwalls, has also been instrumental in working with council officers to secure this funding for the town.
The CIL money, contributed by housebuilders, is intended to support local infrastructure projects that complement the ongoing housing developments. As Liskeard continues to grow, the need for improved infrastructure becomes increasingly critical.
Future Funding Bids
In addition to this substantial funding, further bids have been made to secure additional resources for other important projects in Liskeard. Updates on these bids and future plans are expected in due course, promising more developments for the town.
This funding marks a significant step forward in ensuring that Liskeard’s infrastructure keeps pace with its growth, providing better services and facilities for all residents.
