Menheniot Pupils Donate 78kg of Food to Help Local Families This Harvest
Celebrating Kindness and Community
Menheniot Primary School has marked this year’s Harvest Festival with a generous donation of 78kg of food to the Liskeard & Looe Foodbank, supporting families in need and showcasing the strength of their rural community.
The celebration, held at St Lalluwy’s Church, brought together pupils, families, and friends for an event filled with songs and readings about gratitude, kindness, and looking out for one another. The service also recognised the vital role the farming community plays in putting food on local tables.
The food donation included tinned goods, pasta, rice, and UHT milk – essential items that offer practical support to families facing hardship.
Reverend Li Selman of St Lalluwy’s Church said:
“This Harvest Festival truly captured the spirit of harvest and generosity. We are proud of the students, their families, and our community for coming together to support their neighbours.”
Inspiring the Next Generation
Reflecting the school’s vision to “be happy, be kind, reach for the stars”, the festival encouraged pupils to see how small acts of kindness can make a big difference within their community.
Menheniot Primary School continues to focus on fostering a caring environment for both current and prospective families. To welcome new pupils, the school will hold an Open Day on Thursday 23rd October, with sessions from 9:30am to 10:30am and 1:30pm to 2:30pm. Visitors will have the chance to meet staff, explore the facilities, and learn more about enrolment for 2025/26 and beyond.
