A Night of Celebration for Young Achievers

St John Ambulance Liskeard’s Youth Group held their annual presentation evening on 14th October 2025, celebrating the achievements of their young members. Family, friends and colleagues from St John Ambulance gathered to watch the event, which showcased the skills and dedication of the unit’s Badgers and Cadets.

The group, which meets every Tuesday evening at the Liskeard Salvation Army Hall, includes Badgers aged between 5 and 10 and Cadets aged between 10 and 18.

During the evening, new members were enrolled and certificates and badges for Bronze, Silver and Gold awards were presented. The Badgers shared pictures and poems to show what they had learnt over the year, while Cadet NCOs spoke about their personal achievements in St John Ambulance.

Special Awards and Recognition

Several members received special awards for their hard work and commitment.

  • George Davis received the Presidents Shield for ‘most helpful Badger’

  • Laura Baran received the Presidents Shield for ‘most helpful Cadet’

  • Brooke Foster was presented with the Rowe Shield for ‘most hours’

  • Dylan Hollington-Wyatt received the Julie Morley Shield for ‘most improved’

Samantha Ennor-Pengelly, Cadet Group Lead, said:

“As a youth team in Liskeard, we are incredibly proud of all the achievements of each of our members. They have thrived over the year and demonstrated exceptional first aid skills both in unit and out on events. We are excited for our upcoming year and to see the Badgers and Cadets continue to grow.”

Simon Ennor, County Youth Lead, added:

“Well done to all the Cadets and Badgers at Liskeard. You have worked so hard, and you all are a credit to your unit and St John Ambulance.”

Adult Unit Reopening

It was also announced that the Adult Unit in Liskeard will be reopening. To help run the unit, St John Ambulance is looking for volunteers to train and assist with providing event cover both locally and across Cornwall.

Events supported by the unit range from village fêtes and motocross to concerts and the Royal Cornwall Show. Initially, the group will meet once a month, with the possibility of more frequent meetings in the future. Weekend training courses will also be available for those wishing to become Community First Aiders.
