Exciting Developments: Imerys British Lithium Unveils Plans for Groundbreaking Lithium Plant
Residents of St Dennis and surrounding areas are invited to get an exclusive preview of Imerys British Lithium’s (IBL) ambitious plans for a new full-scale lithium processing plant. The event will take place on Wednesday, 11th September, from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Clay TAWC, The Old School, Fore Street, St Dennis, PL26 8AF.
Public Invited to Shape Future of Lithium Processing
IBL is offering the public a unique opportunity to view their plans and engage directly with the experts behind this project. The company has assembled a team of specialists in planning, geology, processing, and management who will be present at the event. Attendees are encouraged to drop by, ask questions, and provide feedback, which will play a crucial role in shaping the planning application set to be submitted next year.
This upcoming session in St Dennis is part of a series of public events, with one final meeting scheduled for 23 October in St Stephen.
A Step Towards a Sustainable Future
Imerys British Lithium has already made significant strides with their pilot plant near Roche, which has been operational for the past two years. The plant has successfully produced high-quality lithium carbonate, marking a significant milestone in the project. Now, IBL is moving forward with plans to establish the world’s first integrated lithium quarry and production plant on land previously used for centuries of clay extraction.
To ensure the development is sustainable and sensitive to the local environment, IBL is conducting a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Key elements of these proposals include preserving the Hensbarrow Beacon, an important local landmark, and transforming the derelict Grade II listed miner’s cottage at Hensbarrow Farm into a visitor centre.
Stay Informed and Get Involved
For those interested in following the project or learning more, IBL has provided several ways to stay updated. Further details can be found on their official website, or by emailing their team directly at bl.info@imerys.com.
This is a rare opportunity for local residents to be directly involved in the future of a project that could have significant environmental and economic impacts. Make sure to mark your calendars and take part in shaping the future of lithium processing in Cornwall.
