See the Future of Lithium Production: Imerys British Lithium Plans Unveiled in Treverbyn

Published On: 18 July 2024Last Updated: 18 July 2024By

The next opportunity for the public to view Imerys British Lithium’s (IBL) ambitious plans for a full-scale lithium processing plant is fast approaching.

On Wednesday, 31st July, from 3 to 7 pm, Treverbyn Community Hall will host the event at Treverbyn Road, Stenalees, PL26 8TL.

Public Engagement and Expert Insights

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to drop in to ask questions and provide feedback on the proposed plant. An expert team, including specialists in planning, geology, processing, and management, will be on hand to present the plans and gather input to shape the planning application, which is scheduled for submission next year.

Upcoming Events

To ensure widespread community engagement, two further events will take place this year:

  • St Dennis – 11 September
  • St Stephen – 23 October

A Pioneering Project

Imerys British Lithium has been operating a pilot plant near Roche for the past two years, successfully producing high-quality lithium carbonate. The company’s next goal is to construct the world’s first integrated lithium quarry and production plant on land historically used for clay extraction.

Environmental Considerations

IBL is committed to environmental responsibility, undertaking a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment to inform its proposals. Key features of the plan include preserving Hensbarrow Beacon from development and transforming the derelict Grade II listed miner’s cottage at Hensbarrow Farm into a visitor centre.

This initiative promises to bring significant advancements in lithium production while respecting the historical and environmental heritage of the area. Don’t miss the chance to see these groundbreaking plans and have your say in this transformative project.
