The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is on the lookout for a spirited and dedicated volunteer to take on the vital role of Lifeboat Operations Manager at their Looe station.
This pivotal position calls for a leader to ensure the lifeboats and their equipment are always primed and ready for emergencies. Set to replace Dave Haines in early summer, the new manager will be at the forefront of life-saving operations in the picturesque town of Looe, Cornwall.
Critical Role in a Historic Setting
Established in 1866, the RNLI Looe Lifeboat Station is nestled on the scenic seafront of Looe and houses two inshore lifeboats: the swift Atlantic 85 and the nimble D class. The Operations Manager will steer the station’s volunteer crew, maintaining readiness to respond to emergencies at sea swiftly.
What Does the Role Involve?
The new volunteer will not only lead the crew but also ensure all operational activities are seamlessly conducted to maintain the lifeboats in a state of readiness. Responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership of the operations team
- Ensure that all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboats and all associated equipment in a constant state of readiness for launching on service
- (Optional) Authorise launch of the lifeboats
- This role has a tenure of 3 years which can be extended to a maximum of 9 years
This significant role demands a tenure commitment of 3 years, which could extend up to 9 years, dependent on mutual agreement.
