International Women’s Day Exhibition Opens in Lostwithiel This March
An exhibition celebrating women artists, creativity and community is set to open in Lostwithiel this March to coincide with International Women’s Day.
Elaine Foster-Gandey Art will host the exhibition from Friday 6th March to Friday 20th March, bringing together women working across textiles, performance and mixed media.
Opening night in Lostwithiel
The exhibition opens with a Private View on Friday 6th March from 5pm to 8pm at Elaine Foster-Gandey Art, 15 Queen Street, Lostwithiel.
The evening will feature participating artists talking about their work, alongside local female poets sharing their writing. The event is open to all, with drinks and snacks provided.
Artists taking part
The exhibition brings together a group of women artists, including:

Elaine Foster-Gandey, textile and multi media artist

Rosie James, an artist working primarily in textiles

Cas Holmes, one of the UK’s most renowned textile artists
-
Jenni Dutton, multidisciplinary artist and activist
-
Sue Spence, a self taught textile and mixed media artist
-
Denise Watts, an expert in the traditional art of lace making
-
WI Cornwall, described as a warm, friendly and inclusive organisation open to all women
Alongside contemporary textile works, the exhibition will also include vintage banners and artefacts from WI Cornwall, creating a dialogue between historical activism and contemporary female led practice.
International Women’s Day events
A full day of pampering and creative activity is planned for International Women’s Day on Sunday 8th March, running from 12pm to 6pm. The programme will include accessible, participatory workshops and performances, with further details to follow.
The workshop day will operate on a donation basis, with a suggested contribution of £25 or pay what you can, to help ensure accessibility for all.
Visiting times
The exhibition will be open during the following hours:

Wednesday to Friday: 10am to 5pm

Saturday: 10am to 3pm
