Cornwall’s very own Rewind Radio is setting the stage for an extraordinary event that promises to keep listeners glued to their radios. Starting at 08:00 on 31st October, the ‘Radiothon 2024’ will broadcast live for an uninterrupted 48 hours. Spearheaded by Richard Woods, Presenter and Managing Director of Rewind Radio, this event aims to raise funds for three vital local charities.

48 Hours of Non-Stop Entertainment

Richard Woods, along with a host of special guests, will host the marathon broadcast which will feature music, interviews, and special segments designed to entertain while encouraging listeners to donate for a great cause. This year’s Radiothon aims to surpass last year’s impressive £9,000 fundraising total by setting a new target of £15,000.

Supporting Local Charities

The funds raised during this year’s Radiothon will benefit three local charities:

  • HD Livin’: Based in Plymouth, HD Livin’ supports those affected by Huntington’s Disease across Cornwall and the South-West. The charity holds special significance this year, as a team member at Rewind Radio has been diagnosed with the disease, highlighting the urgent need for support and resources. Richard shares his personal connection to the cause, “Sadly, there are very few services available for those in Cornwall who have HD. Through this Radiothon, we hope to bring attention to that lack of support and create resources for those in need, including my very dear friend.”
  • Cornwall Hospice Care: This charity provides compassionate care and support at the end of life, making a profound difference in the community.
  • Penhaligon’s Friends: This organisation is dedicated to supporting children in Cornwall who have experienced the bereavement of a close family member, ensuring they receive the necessary emotional support.

How You Can Help

There are several ways the community can get involved:

  • Donate: Contributions can be made via JustGiving. Every donation, large or small, will help reach the £15,000 target.
  • Tune in: Listen to the Radiothon through DAB, the Rewind Radio App, Smart Speaker, or online, and be part of this exciting event.
  • Spread the word: Share the event on social media and encourage friends and family to participate.

A Call to Action

With the support of sponsors like Carers Break and Focus Technology, and the spirited involvement of the community, Rewind Radio hopes to not only meet their fundraising goal but also to raise awareness about the crucial services provided by these charities.
