Penlee Lifeboat Station is celebrating a significant achievement as two of its volunteer crew members, Andrew Wood and Stuart Farrel, have successfully passed their assessments to become Severn class Lifeboat Mechanics. This accomplishment follows months of rigorous training and dedication.

Assessment Details

The assessments took place out in the bay, where Andrew and Stuart were evaluated through separate exercises on board the Ivan Ellen lifeboat. The assessments were conducted by RNLI engineer assessor trainer Matt Par, who ensured that both candidates were thoroughly tested on their skills and knowledge.

Successful Results

Both Andrew and Stuart passed their assessments with flying colours, a testament to their hard work and commitment. This success not only highlights their individual achievements but also represents a significant boost for Penlee Lifeboat Station.

Operational Impact

With Andrew and Stuart now qualified as Severn class Lifeboat Mechanics, they will be able to assist in covering the mechanic role when the full-time mechanic is on leave. This will ensure continued operational readiness and support for Penlee and other Severn stations, enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the lifeboat service.

Penlee Lifeboat Station’s achievement underscores the vital role that volunteer crew members play in maintaining the safety and readiness of lifeboat operations.
