Call-Out Triggered Near Newlyn Harbour

Penlee Lifeboat Station was called into action yesterday afternoon, 11th April 2025, after a person became cut off by the rising tide on Larrigan Rocks, just outside Newlyn harbour.

The tasking came from Falmouth Coastguards at 14:38pm. Due to the challenging conditions, including rocky and shallow water, Coxswain Patch Harvey made the decision to launch the all-weather Severn Class lifeboat Ivan Ellen.

Y-Boat Deployed for Shoreline Access

To access the casualty safely, the Ivan Ellen deployed its smaller Y-boat. Helm Sam Ashworth and crew member Amy Smith navigated the Y-boat inshore, collected the individual, and brought him to safety.

The person was dropped off at Newlyn Beach, where members of the Penzance Cliff Rescue Team were waiting to assist.

Crew Return Safely to Station

Both lifeboats and their volunteer crews returned to Penlee Lifeboat Station in Newlyn after the incident.

No injuries or further complications were reported.
