Cliff Rescue in Newquay: Coastguard and RNLI Lifeboat Teams Rush to the Scene
A major rescue operation unfolded at the Barrowfields in Newquay on Friday, 28th February, when emergency services were called to assist a casualty on a cliff face.
Emergency Response at Barrowfields
At 12:47 pm, Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team, HM Coastguard Padstow, and Newquay RNLI Lifeboats were tasked to support Devon & Cornwall Police and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. The teams worked together to locate the casualty and set up a technical rope rescue while the lifeboat remained on standby.
Casualty Secured and Brought to Safety
Once the casualty was secured, the coastguard teams successfully brought them back to the top of the cliff. They were then handed over to the ambulance service for further medical attention.
Newquay Coastguard Search & Rescue Team praised the teamwork involved, stating, “Thanks to all for their assistance today, great teamwork.”

Newquay coastguard urges anyone who sees someone in difficulty along the coast to dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
