On the night of Monday, 27th May 2024, a coordinated emergency response saved a life at the cliffs near Whipsiderry. At 22:06, Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team, along with Newquay RNLI Lifeboats, HM Coastguard Padstow, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, responded to an urgent call from Devon & Cornwall Police regarding an incident on the cliffs.
Multi-Agency Response
The emergency teams quickly mobilised, showcasing the strength and efficiency of inter-agency collaboration. A full time Senior Coastguard Officer was also present. The complex rescue involved a rope rescue technique to safely retrieve the casualty from the perilous cliffside.
Successful Rescue and Aftercare
After meticulous and careful efforts, the casualty was safely brought to secure ground and handed over to the ambulance service for further medical evaluation. The professionalism and bravery of the rescue teams ensured a successful outcome without any further incident.
By approximately 00:45, the Newquay Coastguard team returned to their base, ready for any further tasking.
