In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the Newquay-based swimming group swimminwimmin has made a significant contribution to the Newquay RNLI.

The group recently donated £517, funds raised from a recent campaign that also provided a vital new defibrillator for the town.

Community Efforts Pay Off

The ladies of swimminwimmin, known for their charitable efforts in the local area, managed to raise enough money to not only fund a defibrillator but also to make a substantial donation to the Newquay RNLI. This latest effort underscores their ongoing commitment to supporting life-saving services in their community. The new defibrillator has been installed outside the Newquay Activity Centre on Fore Street, enhancing safety resources for both locals and visitors alike.

A Word from the Group Leader

Katie, who leads the swimminwimmin group, shared her thoughts on their achievements. “We didn’t quite have enough money leftover to buy a second defibrillator, but still a great contribution to saving another life,” she stated. This comment reflects the group’s dedication to making a meaningful impact, even if every goal wasn’t fully met.

Continuous Support for the RNLI

The donation to Newquay RNLI comes at a crucial time, as charitable organisations across the UK face various challenges. Contributions from local groups like swimminwimmin are vital in ensuring that lifesaving services like the RNLI can continue their important work. The RNLI expressed profound gratitude for this donation, highlighting how community-generated funds play a crucial role in supporting their operations.

This gesture by swimminwimmin not only highlights the strength of community ties but also sets a powerful example of how local initiatives can make a real difference in enhancing safety and support systems in Newquay.
