Newquay RNLI in Search of New Lifeboat Operations Manager – Apply Now
A rare opportunity to take charge at sea
Newquay RNLI Lifeboats are on the lookout for a new volunteer to step into the critical role of Lifeboat Operations Manager – a leadership position at the heart of lifesaving efforts in the town.
Keep Newquay Lifeboats Rescue-Ready
The role involves overseeing the day-to-day management of the lifeboat station and ensuring that both of Newquay’s inshore lifeboats, along with all associated equipment, are always ready for launch. It’s a vital part of keeping the station on standby to respond at a moment’s notice.
The Lifeboat Operations Manager will provide leadership to the entire operations team, which includes the volunteer crew, shore crew, launch authorities, and the wider team of fundraisers and education presenters.

Who They’re Looking For
RNLI is seeking a team player with strong communication and leadership skills. While knowledge of the RNLI or local maritime activity is desirable, full training is provided — including decision making and volunteer management.
Applicants must live or work within 10 to 15 minutes of the station and be aged between 18 and 70, especially if they intend to authorise lifeboat launches.
The Impact You’ll Make
According to the RNLI, “this role will help us save lives at sea by carrying out the day-to-day management of the lifeboat station to ensure a permanent state of readiness for service.”
The role has a tenure of three years and can be extended up to nine. All reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
A Lifesaving Legacy
Newquay Lifeboat Station originally operated an all-weather lifeboat for nearly 80 years until its closure in 1945. The station re-opened in 1965 and now operates two inshore lifeboats. Its crews have received several awards for gallantry over the years.
