Newquay Town Council is set to hold an important Planning and Licensing Committee Meeting today (31/01/2024) at 6 pm, offering residents the opportunity to engage in local governance either in person or online. The meeting, taking place at the Town Council Offices on Marcus Hill, will also be accessible via a live stream, as announced on the council’s Facebook page.

On the agenda for the meeting are a variety of crucial topics. The council will begin with standard procedures such as receiving apologies for absence and declarations of interest. Following this, the committee will confirm the accuracy of the minutes from the previous meeting held on January 17, 2024, and address any matters arising from these minutes.

A segment of the meeting is dedicated to the Open Session for Electors of Newquay. This session, lasting 15 minutes, allows local residents to submit written questions in advance or ask verbal questions during the meeting, providing a platform for public engagement and discussion on community issues.

The agenda also includes active consultations on planning and licensing matters. Notably, the committee will discuss and comment on the Boardmasters event, with a notification for a hearing set on February 14, 2024. Additionally, there will be deliberations on various licensing applications and decisions on previous planning applications, including those concerning Kayes Pharmacy on East Street and a property on Ulalia Road.

Further, the committee will review new planning applications and correspondence, assess risk assessments, and consider updates to the Terms of Reference. Reports and recommendations from various working parties, including the Community Governance Review Working Party and the Newquay Neighbourhood Plan, are also scheduled for discussion.

The meeting will conclude with a review of the financial statement, addressing committee purchases in line with financial regulations and other correspondence relevant to planning and licensing. The next Planning & Licensing Committee meeting is set for February 14, 2024, at the same venue.
