Newquay’s CCTV Service Marks Its Busiest Year in Support of Local Safety

In an impressive feat of community safety and support, Newquay’s CCTV service has reported its most active year to date. 

Throughout 2023, the dedicated team behind the town’s CCTV operations has vigilantly monitored a total of 4,354 live occurrences, aiding in the surveillance and security of the local area.

The service played a pivotal role in law enforcement efforts, with CCTV operators monitoring 233 live arrests over the year. This close collaboration between the CCTV team and the local police has been instrumental in maintaining public safety and order.

Additionally, the CCTV service has been a crucial resource for legal proceedings, providing 195 pieces of high-quality footage to the police. This footage has been used as evidence, further underscoring the value of the CCTV service in the judicial process.

Newquay Police Inspector, Guy, praised the effectiveness of the CCTV service, stating, “Newquay CCTV has played a valuable part in helping the police make the town one of the safest places to live in the country. Through our close working relationship, the CCTV Operatives work as part of our team and are highly valued by officers in the work they do. The CCTV provision and quality of the footage is outstanding and provides excellent evidence for evidential purposes”.
