RNLI Lifeguards Rescue Unconscious Swimmer at Fistral Beach
Lifeguards rush into water fully clothed to save woman’s life
RNLI lifeguards at Fistral Beach acted quickly on Saturday afternoon, 28th June, after spotting a woman unconscious in the sea.
At 1.20pm, two lifeguards were patrolling between the red and yellow flags when they noticed the swimmer in difficulty. Without hesitation, they entered the water fully clothed to pull her to safety.
Emergency response
After getting the casualty back to shore, the lifeguards provided emergency medical care while calling 999. Paramedics arrived at the scene within ten minutes. The woman was transported in a lifeguard vehicle to the beach car park and handed over into the care of ambulance crews.
Lewis Timson, Lead Lifeguard Supervisor for Newquay, said:
‘I couldn’t be prouder of the way that the lifeguards reacted quickly and ran into the water fully clothed to help get the casualty out of the water.
‘Their quick-thinking has helped to save a life, and it really highlights the importance of visiting a beach with lifeguards who are on hand to deal with any emergencies that may occur.’
Lifeguards on duty daily
RNLI lifeguards will continue patrolling Fistral Beach every day between 10am and 6pm until 2nd November.
