The Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team has issued an urgent reminder to the public that access to Whipsiderry Beach via the steps remains strictly prohibited due to recent cliff falls.

The coastguard’s warning extends to the areas between Towan and Great Western beaches where similar incidents have been reported.

Beach Closures Continue

Whipsiderry Beach, known for its scenic cliffs and tranquil beach, is currently inaccessible from its main entry points following fresh landslides that have made the steps extremely dangerous. The Newquay Coastguard has reiterated that these closures are in place for the public’s safety and must be respected to avoid any potential injuries or fatalities.

Recent Cliff Falls

In addition to Whipsiderry, the coastguard has reported new cliff falls at Porth as well as between Towan and Great Western beaches. These events serve as a stark reminder of the constant erosion that can pose sudden and severe dangers to anyone near the base of the cliffs.

What to Do in an Emergency

The Newquay Coastguard advises that if anyone witnesses a person in difficulty along the coast, they should immediately dial 999 and request the coastguard. This quick response can be crucial in preventing possible tragedies along these popular but currently unstable coastal areas.

Stay Safe Advice

With the Easter holidays approaching and locals and tourists alike drawn to Cornwall’s beautiful coastlines, it is vital to heed the ongoing closures and warnings issued by the coastguard. The safety of the public is paramount, and compliance with these warnings is essential until further notice.

The Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team is working diligently to monitor the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, they thank everyone for their cooperation and wish them a safe continuation of their holiday and recreational activities.

Remember: Enjoy the coast safely and keep a safe distance from the cliff edges. If in doubt, stay out!
