Stay Your Way: SeaSpace Opens Cornwall’s First Coastal Aparthotel on 18th October
A brand-new way to enjoy Cornwall’s stunning coastline is about to open its doors. SeaSpace, the first coastal aparthotel in the county, welcomes visitors to experience a unique blend of hotel-style service with the freedom of self-catering, all while fostering a sense of community and creativity.
A New Concept in Coastal Living
Located on Newquay’s east cliffs, SeaSpace offers a modern approach to seaside holidays, combining the convenience of a hotel with the independence of apartment living. The £11 million renovation of the former Sands site has transformed the space into a destination for everyone, from families and couples to digital nomads and fitness enthusiasts. With 56 studios and apartments, including three accessible studios, SeaSpace provides stunning sea and countryside views, fully equipped kitchens, and open-plan lounge areas.
But the appeal of SeaSpace goes beyond private spaces. With community-focused features like shared gardens, playgrounds, and a café serving locally sourced ingredients, SeaSpace encourages connection between guests and locals alike. Visitors can also enjoy facilities such as the 19-metre ocean-view pool, a fully equipped gym, and access to the Southwest coastal path, making it an ideal spot for those who enjoy an active lifestyle.
A Creative Hub for Locals and Visitors
SeaSpace isn’t just a place to stay—it’s set to become a vibrant community hub. Featuring an 11×8 metre mural by local artist Phil Strugnell, the aparthotel embraces Newquay’s emerging coastal street art scene. The venue is also part of Newquay’s Be Newquay festival, hosting exhibitions, film screenings, and pop-ups throughout the year.
Phil Strugnell will be the first resident artist at SeaSpace, running workshops and expos both on-site and around town starting 8th November. This creative focus adds to the growing arts culture in Newquay, drawing both locals and tourists to participate in the area’s cultural offerings.
Community at the Core
SeaSpace prides itself on being a place where community matters. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee, working remotely from the communal spaces, or attending one of the many events planned, there’s something for everyone. The café, led by head chef Sam Shepherd, offers a menu full of local flavours, with dishes like banana pancakes and kimchi superfood salads, ensuring guests are well-fed throughout the day.
Local memberships for the gym and wellness facilities are available for those who want to make SeaSpace part of their daily routine. Membership options range from £40 for gym access to £70 for the full package, which includes the pool, fitness classes, and more.
Perfectly Positioned for Exploring Cornwall
SeaSpace’s location makes it easy to explore all Cornwall has to offer. From the world-famous surfing beaches of Fistral and Watergate Bay to the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan, everything is within reach. Visitors can take a short drive, bike ride, or even walk to some of Cornwall’s most iconic spots, with SeaSpace offering equipment hire through their partner, Wavehunters, for those keen to dive into the surf.
Opening Offer
To celebrate its opening, SeaSpace is offering a limited-time deal for stays between 3rd November and 13th February. Guests can book one of the 15 large studios, each accommodating up to four people, for just £50 per night, including weekends and holidays. With such a competitive offer, rooms are booking up quickly.
