Two Drivers Face Court After Speed Checks Outside Nansledan School
Police have revealed the speeds recorded during checks outside a primary school, with some drivers travelling far above the legal limit.
The Devon & Cornwall Police Road Safety Team carried out speed checks at Nansledan School yesterday morning as students were arriving.
Speeds of 50mph and 55mph Recorded
Despite the road having a 30 mph limit and poor weather conditions at the time, images shared by police show vehicles travelling at 50 mph and 55 mph.
Officers said some drivers were travelling well in excess of the limit, leading to two drivers being issued with court summons due to the speed they were doing.
Police Response to Dangerous Driving
The Road Safety Team said:
“There is no excuse for excess speed on a road past a primary school, but in the road conditions we have seen today these kind of speeds are totally unacceptable.”
Continued Checks Near Schools
Police confirmed they will continue regular visits to school locations and are urging drivers to keep their speed down when driving around educational establishments.
