Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Opens Elections for New Governors

Published On: 1 December 2025Last Updated: 1 December 2025By

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is calling for people to stand for election to its Council of Governors, offering a chance to help guide community hospitals and mental health services across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

What Roles Are Available

The Trust is looking for six new governors in its latest election. These include:

  • Two public governors for the West Cornwall constituency

  • Two public governors for the East Cornwall constituency

  • Two staff governors, who must already work for the Trust

Governors represent the views of staff, patients and the public. They help shape future plans, hold non-executive directors to account for the Board’s performance, and ensure services meet local needs.

A Key Moment for the Trust

The Trust says now is an exciting time to join. It is working with NHS partners, the local authority, the voluntary sector and community groups to roll out neighbourhood health following its successful bid to join the first wave of pioneers in the National Neighbourhood Health Implementation Programme.

Support for Governors

The Council of Governors meets four times a year. Governors receive training and support, and the Trust covers travel expenses for meetings and site visits.

Anyone aged 16 or over who is a Trust member can apply, and those who are not members can join online.

Margaret Schwarz, Chair, said:
“Being a governor is a voluntary role but one that is an essential part of our Trust. They bring the voice of our members and the wider public into decision-making and help us improve people’s experience of care.”

How to Apply

To request an application pack or find out more, contact Civica Election Services:

To stand for election, you must contact Civica by 12th December 2025. The Trust will announce the new governors in February 2026.
