Casualty Taken to Hospital After St George’s Cove Rescue in Padstow
On Tuesday 12th August at 4.42pm, HM Coastguard Padstow was tasked to assist a person in need of medical attention on the beach just north of St George’s Cove, Padstow. Rock RNLI Lifeboat was also called to the scene.
Lifeboat Transport to Padstow Harbour
The casualty was medically assessed by the lifeboat crew and team members before a decision was made to transport them to Padstow Harbour. The lifeboat crew continued to monitor the casualty during the journey.
Meanwhile, HM Coastguard Padstow relocated to Padstow Harbour to receive the casualty. Once on land, the lifeboat crew carried out a handover before returning to the boathouse.
Treatment on Shore and Transfer to Hospital
Padstow Harbour Office opened their facilities for the team, allowing members to assist the casualty inside. HM Coastguard Padstow said:
“Our Casualty Care First Aid protocols were followed as we assessed and monitored them.”
With the casualty’s condition significantly stabilised, a family member then took them to hospital to be checked over. The team was stood down and returned to base.
HM Coastguard Padstow added:
“Thank you to the wonderful Padstow Harbour Office for opening their doors and facilities to us again. Their support is always unfaltering and very much appreciated by the team.”
