Coastguard Teams Respond After Dog Falls from Cliff Near Trevone
HM Coastguard teams were called to Longcarrow Cove near Trevone on 9th October 2025 after a dog went over the cliff.
Multiple Teams Respond
The incident was logged at 1213hrs. Teams from Padstow Coastguard, Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue, and Rock RNLI Lifeboat were all tasked to assist.
When the team arrived on scene, the owners pointed out where the dog was last seen. A cliff risk assessment was carried out to find a safe location for a cliff technician to be deployed.
The crew rigged a cliff set-up and lowered the technician to the ground. Once there, they came off the lines and located the dog.
Tragic Outcome
After securing the animal in a dog bag, the technician requested to be brought back up the cliff. The dog was reunited with its owners but, sadly, did not survive the fall.
Coastguard Safety Reminder
HM Coastguard has reminded the public to help keep everyone safe by:
✅ Keeping dogs on a lead near cliffs and fast water
✅ Staying well back from the edge yourself
✅ Calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard if a dog gets into trouble
They added that most dogs make it back to safety on their own, but owners should not put themselves in danger trying to help.
Stay safe 👌
