Helicopter Called to Camel Trail After Cyclist Injured in Padstow Fall
Casualty airlifted to hospital following multi-agency rescue effort
Emergency services were called to the Padstow end of the Camel Trail at 16:42 on 8th April after a cyclist fell from their bike.
Quick Response from Locals and Medical Professionals
According to HM Coastguard Padstow, a junior doctor was already at the scene providing initial care when the coastguard team arrived. Several local residents also stepped in to help, offering blankets and cushions to make the casualty more comfortable.
Team members from the coastguard carried out Casualty Care First Aid until three Community First Responders arrived to provide further medical assistance.
Air Ambulance Called for Extrication
Due to the location and the nature of the injuries, the Cornwall Air Ambulance was requested. The coastguard team located a nearby landing site and escorted the Critical Care paramedics to the casualty.
The individual was treated on scene before being stretchered to the waiting helicopter, which transported them to Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske for further treatment.
HM Coastguard Padstow praised the “excellent multi-agency team work as always,” and thanked both the junior doctor and the locals who offered support.
