Padstow RNLI volunteer crew launched at 4.27 pm on Tuesday 21st October to reports of a yacht in difficulties and taking on water, 38 miles north west of Trevose.
Yacht in Trouble
With Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924 also tasked, the crew headed to the location and arrived on scene at 5.46 pm. A member of the helicopter crew was winched down to the yacht to assess the situation, and once Padstow lifeboat was on scene, the helicopter departed.
Safely Towed to Padstow
After assessing the situation further, the safest course of action was to take the yacht under tow. The yacht was brought to Padstow lifeboat station due to tidal restrictions. Once the tide had risen enough, the yacht was then towed safely into Padstow Harbour.
Padstow RNLI crew returned to the station and were refuelled and ready for service by 6.15 am the following morning.
