Padstow Town Council Welcomes Man Down for Fortnightly Men’s Support Group Sessions

Padstow Town Council has proudly announced the commencement of a new drop-in group for men, facilitated by the Cornwall-based non-profit Community Interest Company, Man Down. Aimed at providing a safe and inclusive space for men over 18 facing mental health challenges, these sessions will be held at the Community Hub, offering an opportunity for informal peer support in a relaxed environment.

Starting from Sunday, 3rd March 2024, the group will meet fortnightly between 7 pm and 9 pm, with additional sessions scheduled for the 17th and 31st of March. These gatherings are open to all, requiring no prior booking or payment, underscoring the commitment to accessible mental health support within the community.

Man Down, known for its dedicated efforts to combat the stigma surrounding male mental health and reduce suicide rates in Cornwall, operates on the principle that no one should face their struggles in isolation. The organisation emphasises the importance of dialogue and peer support, offering a judgement-free zone where individuals can share their experiences and find solace among those who understand.

The support groups serve as a testament to the power of community and the importance of having a space to voice one’s struggles. With the launch of this group in Padstow, Man Down and the Town Council hope to extend their reach, providing a lifeline to those in need and reinforcing the message that it’s okay to talk about mental health.
