Swift RNLI Response Saves Unwell Yacht Crew Off Padstow Coast
Padstow RNLI volunteer crew launched their lifeboat at 11:33 am on Tuesday, 23rd July. The crew was alerted to a yacht situated three miles west of Park Head, with reports of an unwell crew member on board.
Double Medical Emergency
Upon arrival, the lifeboat crew discovered not one, but two unwell individuals on the yacht. Swift action was taken as one of the ill crew members was transferred to the Padstow lifeboat to receive casualty care. The remaining individual stayed on the yacht under close observation.
Safe Escort to Padstow
Ensuring the safety of the yacht and its crew, the Padstow lifeboat escorted the vessel back to the Padstow lifeboat station. The yacht anchored in the calm waters near the station, providing a safe environment for the crew to recover.
Successful Recovery and Continuation of Journey
With both crew members feeling significantly better after receiving care, the yacht was able to continue its journey to Padstow with the high tide. The timely and effective response by the Padstow RNLI volunteers ensured a positive outcome for all involved.
Ready for the Next Call
Following the successful mission, the Padstow RNLI lifeboat was refuelled and prepared for the next emergency, ready for service by 2:30 pm.
This incident highlights the critical role of the RNLI volunteers in ensuring the safety of those at sea. Their prompt and efficient response can make all the difference in emergency situations.
